Full/part-time enrollment

Undergraduate students who register for fewer than 12 hours and graduate students who register for fewer than nine hours during the fall or spring semesters will be considered as enrolled part time. Undergraduate students may not enroll in a program part time without the express permission of the academic advising unit of the school or college in which the student is, or plans to be, enrolled.

  • A full-time undergraduate student is enrolled in at least 12 semester hours during the fall and spring semesters, or an equivalent number of hours during the summer session.
  • A three-quarters-time undergraduate student is enrolled in at least nine semester hours during the fall and spring semesters, or an equivalent number of hours during the summer session.
  • A half-time undergraduate student is enrolled in at least six semester hours during the fall and spring semesters, or an equivalent number of hours during the summer session.

Full-time enrollment for graduate and professional students:

  • Graduate student — nine hours
  • Law student — 12 hours
  • Medical student — 14 hours
  • Veterinary medicine student — 12 hours
