Placement testing
Regular registration (New students only)
Mathematics placement
Placement in mathematics for first-time freshmen is based on the Math ACT or SAT sub-score of the student and scores obtained on various AP mathematics exams. Your adviser will inform you of your proper mathematics placement after review of those records. In the event that no ACT or SAT scores are available, or the student is a transfer student who has not received college credit for college algebra (or a higher level of mathematics course):
- The student must take and earn a qualifying score in the Math Placement Exam for College Algebra (MPECA) to enroll in college algebra.
- The student must take and earn a qualifying score in the Missouri Math Placement Test (MMPT) to enroll in a trigonometry, pre-calculus, finite mathematics or calculus course.
Visit the Department of Mathematics placement testing page for all pertinent information regarding prerequisites for mathematics courses as well as information regarding registration, preparation, dates and exam locations for the MPECA and MMPT placement exams.
