Cancellation notice to campus

In an effort to provide students with better, more timely feedback on non-payment issues, and to further reduce the number of different offices each student must contact (due to dropping for non-payment/re-registering, etc.), MU will no longer automatically cancel classes for non-payment. We will only cancel individuals whose student accounts continue to be delinquent after alternative collection measures have failed.

Hard holds to prevent registration will be set for students who are past due for three months or more, or who carry a prior term balance of more than $500, without anticipated aid sufficient to cover the balance to within $500.

The Cashiers Office also will work with various MU offices during the next year to develop other sanctions that may be applied for non-payment, including:

  • Inability to add/drop classes
  • Denial of access to the Student Recreation Complex
  • Elimination of student charge privileges
